Welcome to Jim Huyck Photography. I am thrilled that you are here.

My name is Jim Huyck and I have been involved in photography since I was in my teens. My desire has always been to eventually turn this passion into a full time job.  This website has been developed to showcase my work and hopefully to sell a few pictures.

For over 40 years I have worked as a Firefighter Paramedic. During that time I began to use photography as a means to get away from the realities of my job and explore my creative side. It was a great way to unwind and forget some of the horrors that are thrown at us at work.  I found photography to be relaxing and as a total surprise to me I found I was good at it.  I started shooting short essays and doing miscellaneous shoots for magazines and other publications but this left me feeling very unfulfilled. I began to realize that I was more interested in wildlife and landscape photography and have since geared my work toward those two areas.  Having said that, once people saw the quality of my work I was asked to start to do graduation, engagement and family portraits and other more personal photos.  Nervously, I took the plunge.  Again I found that I enjoyed this and some of my work is included here to allow you to judge for yourself if you like what I do in that area or not.  If so, maybe I can do a photo shoot for you or your family!

I love to travel for my photography and this has taken me to many exotic and exciting places.  I continue to travel and add several hundred pictures to my portfolio every year.  I then take what I consider to be the best of these and include them in this web site.  I really hope you like them.
